Personal Brand
Names are funny. We don't choose them yet this given name becomes an essential part of our identity. So when you meet someone with the same name, you are drawn to that person, even like them. My best friend's mother is named Jane. My husband's aunt is named Jane. I've had more than one person on my team married to a Jane. How fun is that? The name is the code to a unique brand or exclusive (exclusively inclusive, of course) club - The House of Jane.
An inexplicable sense of connection arises when we meet someone who shares our name. This feeling of kinship is true for our personal lives but perhaps even more so in corporate slavery. It's as if an invisible thread ties us together, creating an immediate bond and sparking curiosity about this person who carries a piece of our own identity across multiple business units throughout North America. It's a reminder that we are part of a larger tapestry, a tribe of individuals who bear the same label but embody unique stories.
Identity Markers
Go ahead - google your name. Odds are we won't know any other people that appear in the search, but in my case, there's a poet, a professor, and an octogenarian who passed away in Washington. She shared my name and had my mother's name as her middle name. Bitches, that was delightfully freaky!
Our names become the cornerstone of our identity. They carry the weight of our heritage, family lineage, and the hopes and dreams our parents bestowed upon us. Whether we love our names or wish for something different, they are integral to how we perceive ourselves and others. Our names become a canvas on which we paint our experiences, achievements, and personalities.
Our names can forge bonds, ignite curiosity, and create a sense of camaraderie among strangers. Let us cherish the names we bear and embrace their profound impact on our lives and the world around us. After all, in the symphony of humanity, our names are the melodies that define us. During these turbulent times, this is something we can find comfort in.
